Hier, lors de la cérémonie d’ouverture des Jeux Olympiques de Vancouver au Canada, la vidéo de « We Are The World 25 For Haïti » a été diffusée pour la première fois. »We Are The World 25 For Haïti » est une reprise de la chanson caritative « We Are the World » datant de 1985 écrite par Michael Jackson et Lionel Richie, produite par Quincy Jones et enregistrée par le groupe de musiciens USA for Africa, réunissant les plus grands artistes de l’époque, Cyndi Lauper, Tina Turner, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder ou encore Billy Joel. Ce titre a eu pour objectif caritatif de collecter des fonds pour lutter contre la famine en Éthiopie.Aujourd’hui, 25 ans après avoir enregistré la version originale, « We Are The World 25 For Haïti » a le même objectif, récolter des fonds pour les sinistrés du 12 Janvier 2010. 80 artistes se sont réunis, à la demande de Lionel Richie et Quincy Jones. Wyclef Jean, Pink, Céline Dion, les Black Eyed Peas, Miley Cyrus… et tant d’autres se sont ainsi retrouvés dans le même studio d’enregistrement qui a servit il y a 25 ans à l’enregistrement de « We Are the World ».
